Help me welcome Crystal Collier as she shares her new book and some medieval funnies!
In the thirteenth century, the Holy Roman Church has ordered the Knights Templar to exterminate the Passionate, her bloodline. As Alexia fights this new threat—along with an unfathomable evil and her own heart—the Soulless genesis nears. But none of her hard-won battles may matter if she dies in childbirth before completing her mission.
Can Alexia escape her own clock?
GUEST POST
Writing is my hobby (a little more than a hobby if you couldn't tell). It gives me a reason to dream, a reason to stretch, and a reason to LEARN ABOUT EVERYTHING. How cool is that? (You might hate research. That's fine. All the more for me!) But you have something you love. One thing I've learned from studying across time periods, the environment may change, but the humans have always been the same. We've always craved love, survival, and healthy recreation. (Or sometimes not so healthy.)
This month, TIMELESS, the third book in my Maiden of Time trilogy is out! (Knights, battles, time travel, an epic love story, and special powers...WHAT?!) Today I'd like to share some medieval hobbies with you. (Pick your favorite, eh?)
Language!
Music!
Oh wait, how did that get in there?
Hobbies have always been a part of life, but how wonderful when someone (ME) can share my happy place with others (YOU)? And now the shameless plug: go buy my books.
What hobby would you most miss if you lived in medieval times? What is your favorite medieval movie/story? What's your favorite hobby?

That last one is quite the shot. She looks a bit annoyed, doesn't she?
ReplyDeleteLOL. Did you see Merlin--the show this shot came from? I LOVED it. All except for the last 10 minutes of the last episode. Such a fun show.
DeleteHi Bish and Crystal - that's great you're giving us an insight into medieval life ... yup - how did that apple get in amongst the Tudors?! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteRight?! I'm calling time-travel.
DeleteLOL - miniature golf is really for sissies!

ReplyDeleteGreat contest tool you have here. Thanks for the fun spins. I think my medieval hobby would have been story telling… kind of like my current hobby is now. Ha ha.
If you're going to have a giveaway, why not turn it into a game, eh?
DeleteStory telling! Agreed. No matter when I lived, that would be part of me as well. *high five* We rock!

Haha, they were a little limited on hobbies in medieval times, weren't they? Seems life would have been boring. I like to think I would've still found a way to write if I lived back then, but probably women weren't allowed to do too much of that.
ReplyDeleteWell with as few people as could read back then, you'd have to have been really lucky to acquire that skill first. Even many nobles didn't know how to discern the written word, and with the number of predominant languages, writing would be even harder.

DeleteLoved reading this and laughing along the way.
ReplyDeleteYeah? There's more funny to medieval times than we thought, eh?
DeleteHi Bish and Crystal - great, fun post - loved it!

Hi, Susan! Thanks!
DeleteWhat a fun post! Interesting to think about hobbies from different times. I love drawing- so I would probably be sad not to have all the things I need for my hobby! :) Best of luck to Crystal. ~Jess
ReplyDeleteWell, there was still drawing back then--just in the dirt or with charcoal on animal hides. Ink had been invented, but the kind they used was actually poisonous.
DeleteSuch a fun post!We once went on a medieval night out at Warwick Castle in the UK! Great fun all round. Best wishes to you both, Bish and Crystal!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nicola. Now I really want to go do a medieval night out at Warwick Castle! That would be epic!
DeleteWere books written in poisonous ink back then? No matter, I'd read anyway! I'd probably still write too ;-) I love research and can tell you do as well. I don't imagine a limit to what you can learn from Medieval times. Best wishes on your latest book, Crystal!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Bish!
Yes, they were written in poisonous ink, but once it dried, it was no longer an issue...that we know of. I tell you what though, I would NOT have wanted to be a monk from that era. Thank you for the well wishes, Diedre!
DeleteGolf is for sissies, so I won’t be taking it up any time soon. Haha – such a fun post.
ReplyDeleteHope your blog tour went well Bish.
Golf is for sissies. It's true. ;)
