Random Thought Thursday

Today's quote if from Herman Melville. Looks rather like a dashing ship's captain to me....

I never was able to finish Moby-Dick. But I did read Billy Bubb, a rather tragic story of a young seaman being accused of something he didn't do, then inadvertently killing his accuser and subsequently being hanged. As for Melville the man, he had a quite a life, sailing to the Pacific on a whaling ship and living for a while among the "cannibals" on the Marquesas Islands.

We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.

This is a beautiful statement. Certainly things I have done in my own life have come back to me transformed. Do you have an example of how your actions have come back to you?
