Encourage, Inspire, and Amuse Blog Hop.

Happy Leap Day!

For this easy HOP, thought up by Tara Tyler, Christina Rains, and C. Lee McKenzie, all we have to do is post a meme of our own making or pass on encouraging words from a review or share an inspiring quote. The awesome hostesses will hop around, ooo and ahh, and choose one entry each to win an ebook. PLUS, two lucky random participants will win a $20 gift card! It takes place between February 29 and March 4th.

Here's my contribution!

Do you know why we call it "Leap Year?"
It's really quite simple, but something I just found out so I thought I'd pass on this bit of trivia. While most dates are fixed and we advance in the calendar one day at time, during a leap year we "leap" two days ahead. So, for example, in 2014 July 4th landed on a Friday, in 2015 it was on Saturday. This being a leap year the 4th will land NOT of Sunday, but will leap ahead to Monday.

For this, the last day of Black History Month, I give you...

No surprise, right? Born and raised on St. Croix we couldn't be prouder. This future Hall of Famer is a role model and credit not only to the San Antonio Spurs, but to all Virgin Islanders.

Being Thankful
Today I'm thankful for
SUNSHINE!
Not that it's been overcast a lot, it hasn't.
I'm thankful because without that huge violent ball of exploding gas we call the sun, we wouldn't be here. Nothing would be here.
It's a lot to be thankful for.
Silvery ants on the sea.

What are you thankful for? Will you be visiting other blog hoppers? Did you know why we call it Leap Year? Are you a fan of the Spur?

  4. I prefer a Leap Year over leaping ahead for daylight savings time.

  5. Hi Bish - love the 'contracted disease' ... what a great way of putting literature! The sun - yes ... great balls of fire ... wonderful to be alive ... I enjoy daylight savings - changes the ante .. and going this way it's all good - long days and warmer ones to look forward to ... cheers Hilary

  12. I'm thankful for sunshine too.

Clever quote, although I think adults can catch the reading bug too, even if they didn't read much during childhood.
