Blood, Boobs & Carnage Blogfest

It's the Blood, Boobs and Carnage Blogfest!

Hosted by Heather Garner and Alex Cavanaugh.

It can be any genre that fits the bill - fantasy, science fiction, action, adventure, western, thriller, etc. It can be a movie, a television show/series, a book or all three. You can visit other participating sickos HERE.

MOVIE
A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, was published in 1962. I read it around 1967 or 68 and saw the movie when it came out in 1972. By today's standard's, it's pretty tame. But when I saw it, I was rather traumatized and it was many years before I watched a movie with much in the way of violence it in.

Television
I suppose Deadwood is mild compared to Game of Thrones. I haven't watched but half a dozen or so episodes of the latter and in every single one people are flashing boobs and butts, or being maimed, tortured, and/or killed. As violent and gritty as Deadwood is, I liked it because it's based on actual historical events and people. Yes it's been "Hollywoodized" but still, Ian McShane and Timothy Olyphant as antagonists? Who could ask for more? By the way Justified with Timothy Olyphant is a good candidate for this blogfest, as are The Borgias and Da Vinci's Demons.

Book
I can't think of the last time I read a book with much in the way of blood, boobs and carnage. Since I mostly read middle grade and some young adult, the BB & C is kept to a minimum, which is just fine with me.

Got a favorite violent movie, TV show, or book? Don't be shy, do share.

And now, just in case my friend farawayeyes happens by, I will soften this BB&C post with a little soothing tropical eye candy. :)

  1. You don't need to soothe our eyes for this Blogfest. We all knew what we were signing up for :-)

  3. A Clockwork Orange is still disturbing.
    Deadwood - great choice.
Thanks for participating in our blogfest!

  4. I've only seen a snippet of A Clockwork Orange and it wasn't one to make me want to see the film. Maybe I'd do better with the book first. I am a fan of Game of Thrones, but yeah, it's graphic. I've been watching American Horror Story on Netflix and it would definitely qualify in all aspects for this blogfest, but after each episode, I have to watch an episode of Grey's Anatomy to cleanse my mental pallet before I go to bed.

  7. Deadwood had plenty of gore for me. It was so dark and brutal. I love Tim Olyphant in anything.

  8. I think I prefer the tropical paradise to the gorefest films. Haven't seen the Deadwood series yet, but it does sound somewhat intriguing. Clockwork Orange was pretty weird as I recall, but it's been many years since I last saw that film.

  9. Images of Clockwork Orange still linger. Can't look at the aging Malcolm McDowell and not think about his younger maniacal face.

  12. Deadwood has a real down to earth very flowing vibe to it. Great choice for the blogfest, Bish.

  13. Oh, good choices. I like both Clockwork Orange and Deadwood. Clockwork Orange is also a book--I think one of the few cases I like the film better, but the word usage and the cadence creation is really interesting, so as a writer, I think it's a good book to read.

  14. Ah, I did happen by and Thank You Very Much. Absolutely gorgeous.

I didn't participate in the Blog Hop (thought about it, but got distracted this weekend), but I have been hopping around and enjoying the posts. When I stopped here I did think for a minute and unfortunately so, that Carnivale on STX could qualify for BB&C. Ha, and not in a really funny way.

Never seen the series Deadwood, but then I don't watch much TV. I'm with you on the books. For some reason BB&C seems a whole lot more graphic to me when I'm reading it. Does that make sense? Probably not, but I don't get for that type of literature. For some dumb reason it seems much less offensive in a movie.

'Clockwork Orange',, oh yeah, for it's time it was extremely voilent and disturbing.

  16. Great choices! I loved Deadwood when it was on and I was never a big fan of western shows before that.

  17. Ah, I enjoyed the soothing eye candy too :)

A clockwork orange was really weird. I don't think I watched the whole thing, but it was macabre.

Man, I should have thought of Justified for my post *face palm*

  18. I have to admit, I've not seen anything you listed here. Not much of a violence fan. Well, unless it's kept to the realm of science fiction. LOL

  19. A Clockwork Orange was a riveting movie! Saw it when it first came out and I remember so many of those scenes. I'm also a fan of Ian McShane's, but haven't seen Deadwood. Must look for it online. Great choices for the BB&C Blogfest!

  21. A Clockwork Orange is definitely worth seeing once. It made an impression on me. I hadn't realised how much blood and boobs was happening in Game of Thrones until this blogfest happened!

  23. I remember when A Clockwork Orange first came out: it was really the talk of the town and it came out with an X rating! That was a long time ago...
I saw it a few years back and really didn't care for it. In fact I never finished watching it.
Never saw Deadwood either. I'll have to give that one a try. I know it had a lot of fans...

  24. We still quote Deadwood in this house! Usually curses that can't be repeated in polite company. :)
Never saw the movie, to weird for me.
THANK YOU for joining Alex and me in this EPIC blogfest!
