Computer Hiccups and RIP Peter O'Toole

Old computersMy computer is old and slow. Well, maybe not as old and slow as these guys, but she's still old and slow.

She's still using Widows XP and Word from 2003 to name just two old and slow programs.

Not only that, the old girl seems to be catching colds and having hiccuping fits more and more frequently which means taking her to the doctor for various inoculations and doses of antibiotics.

Alas... the time has come to put the old girl down and get a replacement. Our geek is going to put something together for us. In the mean time as we wait on our new arrival I may or may not be on-line because it all depends on how my old girl is feeling. Since I don't know how long it's going to take (I hope we'll have a new girl before Christmas) I'm going to say, I probably won't be out an about much.

I have a blog post scheduled for Christmas Eve, as I'm taking part in the 50 States of Pray bloghop hosted by Mark Koopman, but I can't be sure at this point if I'll be able to hop around and visit.

So... this is to let all of my faithful Random Followers know I may not be showing up when I should be.

Lastly...
Here's to Peter O'Toole who died Sunday, December 15th. Of course I fell in love with him after seeing Lawrence of Arabia. Who could resist those piercing blue eyes? The movie led me to try to read the real Lawrence's book, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Though I kept going back to it when I went to the public library and taking it down from the shelf where it resided amongst other dusty tomes, I never could get through it.

I hope they never do a remake of the movie. No one could ever take his place.

In the mean time, have a

  2. Very sad he died. I met him once in London, many years ago.
You definitely need a new computer. Just avoid Windows 8.

  6. Peter did have some glass-blue eyes.

I learned on computers like that in high school.

  7. Oh so sad about the old girl. I'm running on the same programs, but I love mine and hate the new ones, so I guess I'll stay with the dinosaurs.

Love Peter O'Toole. Gah, he was handsome!

    Happy Happy Holidays Bish!

  8. It was very sad to hear about Peter O'Tool's death. I haven't seen his early films, only some of his later ones when he was an old man. I can't believe that's what he used to look like! I'll have to rent Lawrence of Arabia, since that's what he's most known for.

Wishing you a joyous Christmas and much happiness in the new year, Bish! I hope your new computer arrives in time for Christmas!! :)

Happy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines

  12. I loved Peter O'Toole in Goodbye Mr. Chips, one of my all time favorite movies. And, I still think he should have played Dumbledore.

  13. Computers only last 3-4 years with me. Before I know it, it's time to get a new one.

Peter O'Toole was one of a kind.

  16. Merry Christmas, Bish! Moving computers can be traumatic, but it's exciting, too. Love your story of how "the old girl" served you, and may the new girl be just as faithful.

  17. I hear your pain! I'm struggling with this computer and it's not old. Maybe I'm just so dense I can figure out the issues, but even my techi people have been stumped. Oh well, the house is starting to look better now that I can't stay online without interruption.

I quite literally ran into Peter O'Toole in London airport. He was quite the figure in a long camel's hair coat. He was also very gracious to a Yank who'd plowed into him.

Have a wonderful Christmas. May 2014 be kind and generous to you.
