Alternatives for Amaze/Amazing

It is inconceivable how many other words and phrases there are that can be used instead of amaze or amazing.

Say it enough times and it starts to sound... funny. Just how did those particular letters and syllables get combined to form a word that means what it does?

  2. What an excellent post! I know that amazing is a word I tend to overuse- especially when I am excited about something. I think the list that you provided is great. When I notice that I am overusing it I try to use other words. I like fabulous or outstanding instead of amazing.

    I agree with you- saying a word a lot makes it start to sound funny. :)

  7. I have to tell you- since I read this yesterday I have realized that I use amazing even more than I thought I did. I keep trying to substitute another word now and I keep thinking of this post!

  9. I use amazing in my vocabulary all the time. It ceases to mean it after a while and I have to switch it up.

  13. I used to like to use amazing once in a while BUT now I think of it as a "kid word " and then I feel silly using it. It's like wearing a mini-skirt at my age.

    Kids change their buzz words so with time, it will become a meaningful word again.

    This is a useful post.... I have to check out your posts while I was away. I always learn something.
