New Book in Town

Introducing Bish's new toy. I never thought it would happen. But it did. I never thought I'd want to, let alone, enjoy reading off of an electronic devise the size of a paper back. But I do. Yup, I got the Kindle Touch with free 3G. The Kindle Fire would have been nice...color and moving pictures and all, but it was just a tad out of my price range. As it is, with the Touch, I can listen to audio books and/or music!

As promised, the first book I bought and downloaded was Anne Gallagher's

The second book I downloaded was Talli Roland's, which she sent me as I promised to review it. So I'm busy reading it.

The third book I downloaded was J. L Campbell's which I won. I'm looking forward to reading a story that takes place in Jamaica. Thank you Joy!
Rather odd, me, a writer for children, a person who predominately reads middle grade books, downloading three adult romances! What a hoot.

That said, some time ago I won a copy of Shana Norris' book. Don't you just love the cover?
So there you have it. Proof that old book dogs can learn new tricks.

Do you have an e-reader? Do you like it? If you don't have one, do you want to get one?

  1. Oh, YAY! You got it!

I'm thrilled to be right up there with Anne's novel, along with Shauna and JL's.

    Thanks, Bish!

  2. Woo-hooo! I'm coveting a Kindle but with FOUR bookish people in the family I just don't know whether it would work out. Can you see us all fighting? But I know one is in my future! And my kiddos' ...

Three romances? Does Stan know? LOL.

  3. Hey! Very cool! I've got the old Kindle, but I think my mom's getting my oldest the Kindle Touch for Christmas. I'm w/you. The Fire would be awesome... We'll see~ :o) <3

  4. I'm after an iPad - I like the idea of having the books on there as well as keeping my good old fashioned hard-paper-backs.

  5. Haha! Welcome to the ebook world. I've got one. Played around with it like a boy with a new gadget for a couple of weeks before realizing that my heart was still in the paperback. I still use my Kindle, but only when I HAVE to, or the book isn't available in print.

  6. Ooh, how exciting! I've been resisting getting an e-reader, because I'm so old school about books. But then again, I resisted digital cameras for a while and that was just silly. I can feel my defenses cracking!

  7. I love my ereader. Though I have a few trad pubbed books on it, I mostly use it for self published books. And I've found many that I absolutely love!

I'd love to upgrade to a touch or fire but I can't justify the cost - not yet!

  11. Look at you! All high-tech and everything! I haven't gotten one myself, and probably won't, but my girls have them. They love the old classics and many of those are free downloads.

    Enjoy your new toy!

  15. I had one of the early models of the KOBO. My husband wanted me to get it for research purposes. I didn't like that the covers weren't in color. I'm such a covers girl. So he bought me an iPod Touch for Christmas. I love that. But I still love reading the real thing. So now I buy books in both format (just not the same book).

  16. Yay for you, Bish! I have a regular Kindle, and I love it. I love that I can make the text bigger so it's easier to read, and I love being able to buy an eBook for 99 cents, which is about all I can afford these days! It's so cool to be able to fit a library in my purse and take with me wherever I go. I still like the old fashioned books, too, but e-readers are pretty nifty gadgets!

  19. WELL DONE on joining the Kindle Addiction Club!! I'm so glad you've got your very own spanking new Kindle.

And I have to tell you I'm green with envy that the first book you downloaded was Anne Gallagher's The Lady's Fate..for some weird reason Amazon won't let me download it! (Luckily Anne took pity on me and I have my Kindle copy ready to read!)

Ads you can gather - I don't like my Kindle, I LOVE my Kindle!! :)

  20. Look at you and your fancy schmancy ereader! I really should have put one on my Christmas wish list!!! But I have so many regular books on my TBR list. For my bday I will ask for one!!

  21. Wow, Bish, I'm impressed! :) I'm sure there's an e-reader in my future, but I don't have it yet. I'm a little discouraged with how technology continually has us lusting after the newest version of whatever, but there comes a time when you have to make the move. My DIL sells Nook for B&N, so that's what I'll probably end up going with.

  22. I used to be very anti e-reader - I had this idea that ebooks they were replacing 'real' books and I hated the thought! But now I have the Kindle app on my iPad and use it all the time - I still love my paperbacks and hardcovers but I also love the instant access that an ebook download gets me :-)

  23. I want to scream "NEVER!" but then I have a cell phone and I can even text on it. In another five years' time, I may just succomb myself.

  24. Hope you enjoy the book when you get around to reading it. Happy New Year when it comes.

  25. I use an iPad, though I do miss the look, feel and smell of hardback, paperback and if comic books. The portability factor is wonderful, my purse would never hold 64 books!
