Blog Schedule

I post on Monday with an occasional random blog thrown in for good measure. I do my best to answer all comments via email and visit around on the days I post.

A Medley, Mixture, and Hodgepodge of Miscellanea

I'm kind of copping out today because I just don't seem to be in the mood to blog about anything serious.

284 years ago today, George Washington was born.
He said, "If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."

It's also National Margarita Day, so let's raise our glasses to George.

AND, it's National Walk Your Dog Day.

Lastly, in honor of Black History Month, I give you jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins.

Although he was not born in the Virgin Islands, he has family there and his most famous song is called, "St. Thomas." I hope you'll take a few minutes to listen to this original recording made in 1956.

Being Thankful
Today I'm thankful for dogs.
Here are  a few I've had the pleasure to know.

What are you thankful for? Ever heard of Sonny Rollins? Are you giving a toast (margarita or otherwise) to George? Do you forgive me for being so lazy?

  1. Hi Bish - yes Washington is being featured around. I'll always give a toast - at the moment with water .. and yes, of course, we can always be lazy. Love the critters .. fun .. cheers Hilary

  4. You've had a lot of furry friends.
George was so right. And that freedom of speech is still being threatened today.

  7. You are far from lazy. A post is still a post. Cats are my bag (though I am yet to live where I can have one. I love from afar) but I appreciate dogs as well. I am very thankful for life, friends and books.

  8. Everyone has lazy days! Theres even a song about it. I love animals. Dogs are very intelligent. My cousins own a farm and Barney who's 18 always barks when he hears a car approaching. Hes such a social creature too, folks always spoil Barney with treats. One day when visiting I had to tell him, I'm sorry pal, I haven't got anything for you today. He knew exactly what I said. Word for word.
