284 years ago today, George Washington was born.
He said, "If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
It's also National Margarita Day, so let's raise our glasses to George.
AND, it's National Walk Your Dog Day.
Lastly, in honor of Black History Month, I give you jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins.
Although he was not born in the Virgin Islands, he has family there and his most famous song is called, "St. Thomas." I hope you'll take a few minutes to listen to this original recording made in 1956.
Being Thankful
Today I'm thankful for dogs.
Here are a few I've had the pleasure to know.
Happy
Bozo and Anna
Atta
Chester
Daisy
Ursa
What are you thankful for? Ever heard of Sonny Rollins? Are you giving a toast (margarita or otherwise) to George? Do you forgive me for being so lazy?
Hi Bish - yes Washington is being featured around. I'll always give a toast - at the moment with water .. and yes, of course, we can always be lazy. Love the critters .. fun .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteGreat to be thankful for dogs. Mine has really been there through my challenges these last 2 years.
ReplyDeleteBlog Hopping with C. Lee McKenzie, Christine Rains, Tara Tyler, and others. Thank you so much for this, Bish. I love you blog and will try to follow it. Thanks for being a part of this blog hop!
ReplyDeleteYou've had a lot of furry friends.
ReplyDeleteGeorge was so right. And that freedom of speech is still being threatened today.
National Margarita Day? Well, they have donut day so why not, right?
ReplyDeleteYou brightened my day! And look at those lovely dog friends you've shared parts of your life with. How lucky you and they are! I'm going to have a Margarita this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteYou had such pretty puppies.
ReplyDeleteYou are far from lazy. A post is still a post. Cats are my bag (though I am yet to live where I can have one. I love from afar) but I appreciate dogs as well. I am very thankful for life, friends and books.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has lazy days! Theres even a song about it. I love animals. Dogs are very intelligent. My cousins own a farm and Barney who's 18 always barks when he hears a car approaching. Hes such a social creature too, folks always spoil Barney with treats. One day when visiting I had to tell him, I'm sorry pal, I haven't got anything for you today. He knew exactly what I said. Word for word.
ReplyDeleteCute dogs. I'm with the others. I wouldn't call this a lazy blog post. Fun? Yes.
ReplyDeleteI love this medley post and learned a few things. Great dog pics.
