Alternatives for Change

Alternatives is a recurring post in which I give synonyms for an over used word. Click on the tab above for a "complete" list of over used words.

Today's word is:
ImageChef.com
The only thing constant, is change. And on this, the second day of the New Year, it seems more than coincidental that the next word on my list of over used words just happens to be, CHANGE.
Change is the one thing we can be sure of. It applies to all aspects of our lives. Embrace change, it is your brother/sister. It is at the heart of all we do.

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. … We need not wait to see what others do." Gandhi.

These words have been simplified, rewritten, changed into something with which we are all more familiar: Be the change you wish to see in the world.

WHAT CHANGES ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2014?

This song by the Scorpions is truly beautiful with a profound and simple message that is as relevant today as when it was first released. Happy New Year.

  3. Hi Bish - Change is going on all the time isn't it - it's that 'thing' that some people can't take ...

Love the list of alternatives you've given us ..

The video has a great message too - we really do need to live as brothers ... cheers Hilary

  5. Blimey! So many words to use instead of change! Until I read them all, I'd only come up with 'alteration'! (although I have to admit I hadn't been trying very hard or for very long!) Happy New Year!

I love this series, btw. Don't know if I mentioned it before. ;-)

  7. What a great list!

(And it's good to know that even Ghandi was better with an edit!)

  9. I'm looking for the total removal of overused expressions. At the end of the day, to be honest, I'm not being funny, but.... you know what I'm saying...

I like your thinking in your post, Bish! To um coin a phrase, change is as good as a rest, evidently.

  13. Excellent list! Perfect for the start of the new year when so many people are working towards changing things about themselves.

In the new year I am trying to live more in the moment and appreciate everything around me. :)
