Say it enough times and it starts to sound... funny. Just how did those particular letters and syllables get combined to form a word that means what it does?
What's your favorite alternative for amazing?
I'll just go with one word - whoa! These posts are so helpful, Bish.
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent post! I know that amazing is a word I tend to overuse- especially when I am excited about something. I think the list that you provided is great. When I notice that I am overusing it I try to use other words. I like fabulous or outstanding instead of amazing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you- saying a word a lot makes it start to sound funny. :)

ReplyDeleteI have to tell you- since I read this yesterday I have realized that I use amazing even more than I thought I did. I keep trying to substitute another word now and I keep thinking of this post!

ReplyDeleteI do love the word amazing, I must admit. I always end up deleting about 100 of them!
I use amazing in my vocabulary all the time. It ceases to mean it after a while and I have to switch it up.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I overuse "amazing." I know I use "awesome" a lot.
ReplyDeleteI love your clips! Inconthivably fascinating! And thanks for the long list of alternative words.

I used to like to use amazing once in a while BUT now I think of it as a "kid word " and then I feel silly using it. It's like wearing a mini-skirt at my age.
ReplyDeleteKids change their buzz words so with time, it will become a meaningful word again.
This is a useful post.... I have to check out your posts while I was away. I always learn something.
Love....
