Yesterday my internet connection was out so I didn't get to visit anyone's blogs. I hope today is better. That said I want to thank my new followers and everyone who visited and/or left a comment. I appreciate it.
Now, on with the A to Z Challenge.
Note the operative word there...should. What should we be doing that we aren't?
Does time in the hammock reading a book count as something I should be doing?
How about time spent on the computer working up posts for my blog? Or reading blogs?
Or should I be doing house work?
Or should I take the dog for a walk?
And there are always those errands that I should take care of in town (car insurance.)
Maybe I should be weeding.
Maybe I should go visit my friend.
Or perhaps I should call my sister, just because.
Then of course there's, "I should be working on my novel(s)."
Reading in the hammock sounds pretty good right about now.
What are your shoulds? What should you be doing that you aren't? Do your shoulds take you away from writing? Do you think of your shoulds as procrastination?
I'm very good at procrastinating :D
ReplyDeleteDoes passing time putting up passages under P count as procrastination? I'm told I'm not getting essential work done.
ReplyDeleteI think my bottom is glued to the computer chair. I cant seem to get off it.
ReplyDeleteMy shoulds are generally of the domestic variety or sometimes even the social - I just want to stay at home - and when it comes to the written word, I should work more on my thesis and blog less.
ReplyDeleteI have a degree in procrastination. My motto is, if you can put it off to tomorrow it wasn't that important anyway.
ReplyDeleteI am the world's biggest procrastinator. But when I'm done with that, I get everything done in such a rush, that I have nothing else to do.
ReplyDeleteI really should be working on either my rewrites or one more look through on the other book. But the lawn needs attention, the laundry, the dishes, my parents are coming over this weekend for Easter so the dining room needs help.
Yeah, I think the couch is calling my name to finish the last two chapters in the book I started last week.
I am procrastinating right now. There is work to be done on my WIP (lots of work.) There is Easter to plan for. There is a dirty house. Laundry needs to go into the dryer. I need to go to the bank. Instead, I'm reading and commenting on blogs, which I am hoping will spur a flurry of words for my stalled WIP. Hmmm. Yes. What should I be doing?
ReplyDeleteProcrastination is my middle name. I have tons to do, but I seem to find an excuse for all of it, Bish. Just so I can relax by the pool, even though it isn't open yet. That's the life. I should... ;-)
ReplyDeleteBish, You're playing my song. Right now I "should" be doing my exercise and then shoveling snow. Yes, you heard me right. A short cold snap and 5 or 6 inches of snow. But we get so used to snow that I actually missed it when we had our short respite. It will melt soon and then what will I do? Ha
ReplyDeleteAnother neat post for the P day.
I forgot to mention that gorgeous picture. Is that you in the hammock? What an appropriate photo to go with procrastination. I love it. All that lush green makes a great contrast to all our lush white. :)
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, there is always stuff that I should be doing that I'm not. BUT! I also tell myself it's okay to take a break.
ReplyDeleteI don't like procrastinating, but it does happen...and I'm very good at it, heehee. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry your internet was down, that's a bummer. Oh boy, I hate paying bills, doing taxes and I actually get depressed because there is never enough money. My husband is paid weekly and I'm still used to the twice a month bigger paycheck, so it's a balancing act. Who to pay this week or next.

I am supposed to be exercising right now, but all of a sudden, housework seems extremely important. But then I remembered all the loose ends I have to tie up, emails I have to reply, and the next thing you know, I'm here. Heh.
ReplyDeleteI am the WORST procrastinator. It must be genetic, because made it a point to be a good example for my son, and he is the same way I was when I was his age. Wait 'til the last minute, and work like made to finish a project.
ReplyDeleteReprehensible, really? Is it that bad of a habit?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. I'll come back tomorrow and decide.
I'm sorry, Bish. You lost me at the hammock picture... I WANT! ;-)) Perfect for working on my writing, really.. I could get a netbook in there.
ReplyDeleteThe hammock wins!!!! Me-want!!!! I am very, very good at procrastinating even without a hammock.
ReplyDeleteThoushaltnotcovetthyneighbor'shammock X 100 ...
Ah there's just so many ways to procrastinate. Blogging's one of my favourites.

ooooh, the evil demon that lurks! Procrastination be damned!!
ReplyDeleteIf you are fortunate to have a hammock, then it would be utterly wrong not to spend a great deal of time reading in it.
ReplyDeleteIt's science.

P is for Panic... that's what I feel when I procrastinate!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat P!
I'm a pro at Procrastinating! That hammock looks tempting though.
ReplyDeleteI am SO good at procrastinating! And reading in a hammock is perfectly acceptable "research" for a writer :)
ReplyDeleteIt's all about priorities. I find time to walk the dog about every day, but weeding the garden is a very rare event. :)
ReplyDeletethat hammock looks mighty fine. I SHOULD be writing more and reading more and just about doing everything more ;)
ReplyDeleteActually, if you look in the dictionary, my picture is right there under procrastination. :-)
ReplyDeleteAh, procrastination... I better not go there! :o
ReplyDeleteOh, I know this word only too well!
ReplyDeleteI hate that I procrastinate so much but always find some reason why it would be better to leave the prescribed task until another day...LOL.
Isn't reading in a hammock just one of the very best things to do in life...:)
