We now return to our regularly scheduled program.
Lest we forget who will be paying for all these loans and bailouts and buy-ups our wonderful government is planning; lest we forget who will be paying for all the things the presidential canditates are promising...
I am reminded of the following song.
Taxman – by George Harrison - The Beatles
Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah,
I'm the taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah
I'm the taxman
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah,
I'm the taxman
Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah,
I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me.
Lest we forget, there is no free lunch. Nothing is free.
Neat song...I don't think I've ever heard it...
ReplyDeleteI noticed the other day that some gas stations are now charging for air in my area...It is bad when you can't pump up your tires for free anymore...sigh...
Great song. Ugh on the whole bailout issue. It makes my head spin. I tell you, we are SO FORTUNATE that we sold our house when we did. Right when we put our CA home on the market, things started to fall apart. I don't know what we'd have done had it been any longer that we tried to get out of the state.
ReplyDeleteBrenda -- they're really charging for air? Dang! Gas prices have gone down considerably here lately. My daughter just filled up my Jeep for $3.09 the other day. Sadly, our van is diesel and that's still pretty expensive. Better than what it was, so I'm trying not to complain, too much.
Oh, the song is so true . . . sad, too. Gas prices here are going down, too, but not enough. :(
ReplyDeleteI wish taxes would go down. ;D
