I don't know about you, but a little good news has helped me. So I thought I'd pass it on.

Maybe you've heard? A turn for the better has taken place for the lives of a few precious children thanks to a bust by European police of a huge Internet pedophilia ring. You can read the story here. This means a lot to me as I worked for 23 years with abused, neglected and emotionally disturbed children. My thanks goes out to those who smashed up the ring and my prayers go out to the children who have been rescued. May they find peace.***
Here in the Hill Country of Texas, Spring is slipping into place.
Our lawn is making its annual comeback.
Redbuds and pear trees are in bloom.
Wisteria vines are draping their long large purple clusters over ancient arbors.
There it was, ah, a sulphur butterfly.
There it was, ah, a sulphur butterfly.
And the mockingbirds are singing again.

If you've read my blog for a while, you know I hate plastic. Impossible to live without (as it shows up everywhere made into everything) impossible to live with (we are drowning in it, turning our planet and oceans into a plastic waste dump) I moan and groan and bitch and do everything I can to reduce, reuse and recycle.
This is NOT an advertisement.
BUT... if you're into buying sodas...
Pepsi has now come up with a non-plastic plastic bottle. That's right, next year they will begin test marketing a vegetable based biodegradable bottle. I'm so excited I could pee my pants! Read all about it here.

HEADS UP!
I am now very close to the 200 follower mark. What a pleasant surprise! Thanks to ALL of you. When I reach that auspicious number I will of course have a CONTEST which, of course, will be interesting and I hope unique. There will be a PRIZE.Got any good news you'd like to share?
I rage against plastic too. But I'm also not a big fan of Pepsi :) So while I'm glad that this change will reduce the amount of plastic winding up in landfills, think of how much better the world would be if people just stopped drinking soda altogether! Yeah, like that would happen :P
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Bish, because sometimes the world is too much for us and tears seem the only answer.
ReplyDeleteBut, if we look hard enough, there are a few small things to chase those tears away...like Pepsi's experiment with the non-plastic bottle.
And here's another ((HUG)) for you, just because! :)

Spring hasn't quite sprung in Iowa yet...but it's getting close!
ReplyDeleteVery cool news on the biodegradable bottles...I'm just wondering how they do it? If I have a case in the garage for a couple months, they're not all going to spring leaks, are they?
We have sprung here too! Hurray!
ReplyDeleteSorry to say, I hate Pepsi but this makes me want to drink it anyway! Clever. Glad they busted those pervs too!
I hit 40k words!
ReplyDelete^_^
Say Bish is gonna wet her pants. Dang! She DID get excited. hehe I'm with you on the plastic junk. So I will head off and read this wonderful news. About the Internet pedophilia ring. I hope those disgusting animals never get out of jail. NEVER! A man we know was just busted by the FBI for selling naked pics of his step-daughter to a Russian pornography website. And there is NO telling what else he did to her. It makes me sick. I pray that all these children find peace too, Bish. And the tears are good. Sometimes that's all we can do. Pray and cry.
ReplyDeleteA little good news can do wonders, can't it? Hang in there, Bish. Good News: 11 days until the opening day of baseball season!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't hear about the internet ring but I am glad you mentioned it. I can't bring myself to even type that 'P' word, it disgusts me so much. Really, really harrowing what some children have to grow up with isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAnd I am glad its Spring, and I am pleased you're almost at the 200 mark!! Go Bish! ;-)
I'm glad there's some good news out there! And may I please applaud you for working with children who really need a loving adult in their lives. That's so very important. I didn't know that about you, but I think it's just awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope you reach that 200 mark soon! Happy Monday to you ~
Lots of cool news! Great to hear about that new can. I'm not a Pepsi drinker, but I'm sure other bottlers will be following suit.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness that ring was busted. My stomach hurt after I read that story; those poor sweet kids!!
ReplyDeleteI like that Pepsi is doing that and I hope Coke does the same since that is what I drink!! :)
Yeah, I heard about that ring. That god it was busted!
ReplyDeleteMy good news? I am happy... does that count? Feels like it should count to me.
Wow, so glad a pedophilia ring was busted. And what a life you've led, having worked with kids whose lives have been affected by such horror. Go you! And hugs! And if you must pee in your pants, go for it!
ReplyDeleteI think I've heard of that non plastic bottle before in something non Pepsi. Anyway, think of the use.

Yay for good news! Hm... it's supposed to be warm in London? That's good news for me, anyway!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazingly good news! I'm so disgusted every time I hear that such a thing as this exists, but I'm heartened to know that people are actively working to uncover them and eliminate them--and that it's working! It's so hopeful.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool about the new non-plastic bottle! I hadn't heard of that!
Cool...vegetable biodegradable cans/plastic. Very interesting - thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a non-plastic plastic bottle. Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all the good news. I will pray for those rescued kids.
My good news is that I have LOTS of work! Yay work!!!

ReplyDeleteWe could all use a little good news. Thanks for sharing these. We really need to be more eco friendly --I love that Pepsi is going to come up with a biodegradable bottle soon.
ReplyDeleteReally, really good news about that busted ring. And that cool new Pepsi can, too. The world needs a lot more good news. Thanks for sharing, Bish. And congratulations on all your awesome followers!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you've been down lately. I like the idea of highlighting the good tho, this always helps me. Hugs to you, Bish!
ReplyDeleteThe pepsi bottle thing--my son and I were just talking about this, and how all food packaging for snacky type stuff needs to follow the route set out by the Sun Chips bags that are now biodegradable. I'm happy to hear this!
Thanks for stopping by on the post about my Grandma--she will be missed and your words helped me.
