I've Heard of Mood Swings...

...but this is ridiculous. Holy moly Batman, it's colder than a witch's tit outside!

Monday our high was a lovely 80 degrees. Tuesday it was 33. This early pre-dawn morning the wind is blowing and it's 15. It will probably drop a few more degrees before the sun rises. And we're supposed to climb all the way up to 31 degrees!

I realize a goodly portion of the United States is in the deep freeze. I also realize for many it's much worse, with driving snow and ice. It's just not all that common here in the Texas Hill Country. In fact this may be about the coldest I've seen it in the 30 years I've lived here. On top of that there's the possibility of snow, or some kind of wintry precipitation, tomorrow.

So, for all of us shivering with the cold, I thought I'd take us on vacation.

Enjoy.

  1. Monday it was -26 F and today it'll be +26 F. Talk about mood swings. But at least the snow will start melting today . . . in time to freeze up again in a few more days. :P

  2. *snort snarfy giggle* You said tit. lol

I'm not telling you how warm it is here. The mountains saved us from all that white stuff.

Those pictures are breathtaking. Are those the Virgin Islands? Is that where you used to live? I have so got to go there.

My favorite was the picnic table under the tree on the beach. We used to have one where we lived.

  3. Yeah, winter weather is crazy. I like your pictures though, they make me think happy thoughts. That and the fact that my kids are back in school today after an entire week of them staying home due to bad weather.

Hurray, I can hear myself think again! :)

  4. Thanks for the fabulous photos, Bish. Oh yeah, I need a vacation from this winter. Too much snow and ice around here. Every few days there is another snow or ice storm. I think I would love an 80 degree day, but those swings you're dealing with? No thanks. I heard the ground hog is predicting an early spring, so there's hope for all of us.

  5. Okay after reading this I'll stop moaning about our weather, which has been chilly because of all the rain we're having! But nothing ike those temperatures.

Interestingly, though, the winter of 2010 was the coldest recorded in years.

But I have nothing to complain about. It's been 70 and sunny for weeks.

    I hope you warm up!

  14. I sympathize! We have a glass vase in our bathroom in which the ice froze solid and stayed that way for two weeks. And our house doesn't have the greatest central heating, and it was windy outside. BOY, was it cold!
